My friend Jessie, who is single and travels the world, first told me about dry needling. She is fanatical about it being the only way to relieve her back pain. I had never heard of it. I spend a lot of time at Benchmark Medical Group and they can do dry needling. I've seen it done, but was a little hesitant to give it a try. Until, my neck and upper back were causing me headaches and nothing else was seeming to fix it.

I decided to give it a try. Keep in mind I love acupuncture, I have my nose pierced and I have several tattoos. This is a completely different experience. You cannot feel the needles, but certain muscles (the ones that need help) cause a really crazy sensation that can be tough to breathe through. But, it's quick. I was really sore afterwards, like muscles had been pulled, but relief was soon to follow.

Dry needling, according to KinetaCore's website is "a therapeutic treatment procedure that involves multiple advances of a filament needle into the muscle in the area of the body which produces pain and typically contains a trigger point." Dry needling is said to be effective for acute and chronic pain and rehabilitation from injury, all with very few side effects.
