Join me as I travel around Northern Colorado in search of 'NoCo's Greatest Pie.' This week, a stop at Johnstown Plaza and the brand new Mod Pizza.

Mod Pizza is a national chain that just opened up a location in Johnstown. It seemed like a proper stop on my quest, as I'd never been to one.

I compared it to a Subway. Though it's much cooler than a Subway.

You get to choose what you want on your pie, with over 30 toppings to choose from as you move down the line.  Or, you can choose one of their signature pies — a lot of them are named after the founding wife's kids.

I went 'a la carte' and got a white sauce with garlic, mild sausage, black olives, artichoke hearts, bacon, mushrooms, and red onion.

Their slogan is 'superfast.' No question about it. I think my cohort Jake and I spent more time ordering than waiting. The artisan-style pies came out of that big oven very quickly. Super fast.

I felt bad for another 'Dave' that was there. They kept calling his name to come to get his garlic knots, but he never showed.

Anyway, my pie was very good. Great crust, and the toppings I had chosen played out well, if I do say so myself.

The venue is very good; there were lots of seating options and they'll have a patio when the weather gets nicer. The staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. But, it was their first week; I'm sure that had everyone on their best behavior.

Being so new, they only have three Google Review reviews, each giving them a full out 5 out of 5.

I'm going to have to disagree, as I haven't given anybody a 5 so far.

My 'Pizza My Heart' rating: 4.5 Pepperonis out of 5.
