Join me as I travel around Northern Colorado in search of 'NoCo's Greatest Pie.' This week, a stop into BullDog Pub & Grub in Greeley.

I've been traveling around NoCo for about six months now, trying out all sorts of pizza joints in the area. Most have had 'pizza' in the name of their establishments, this is one where they don't use that in the official name but are known for having great 'pies.'

BullDog Pub & Grub is on the southwest side of town off of 65th Avenue and 20th Street by the Youth Sports Complex.

Being so close to the sports complex you'd expect them to have plenty of seating for ball teams, and you'd be correct; plenty of space for say, The Bulldogs. What also caters to the youth (and young-at-heart) is their massive collection of sci-fi/comic memorabilia.

These are not the anchovies we're looking for.  Jacob Laxen, TSM

Not only do that have that, but they also have a very large collection of military items. They take their support of the troops very seriously.

My cohort Jake and I take pizza seriously. Well, fairly seriously. Let's get to the pie.

On their pizza menu, they have 'The Bulldog;' it seemed appropriate so that's what we ordered. They have 10", 14" and 16," we went with the 14."  They said it'd be out in about 10 minutes and they were right on the money.

Now, they say that their pies are 'thin crust,' but when I hear 'thin crust' I think Neopolitan/crunchy crust; this is not that. It's more of a 'hand-tossed' pie, in my opinion.

'The Bulldog' comes with meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, onion, green peppers, mushrooms. It had my name written all over it. Jake had to pick off the mushrooms, however.

The sauce was great, that crust was baked just right, and the toppings were cooked to perfection as well.

I/we have made more than a few stops in Greeley with 'Pizza My Heart,' I'm going to say this was my favorite.

Google Reviews (374 of them) give The BullDog an average of 4.5 stars. I'm going to have to disagree.

My 'Pizza My Heart' Review: 4.8 pepperonis out of 5.

Nice job, Dogs. Keep it up.
