The lack of pots at my house had me on a mission this past weekend. I needed a place to put some of my plants, so I went out and bought some cedar to make a planter box!

My initial mission for this box was to plant my hot peppers in it. The box came out to 35 inches wide by 10 inches deep and 17 inches tall. After a couple of hours of planing and cutting boards, this is what I had to work with!

About an hour later, I had the trim installed.

Now that the trim was installed on the top and bottom, I needed a way to protect the work I put in. I opted to use an exterior sealer for decks. The sealer made the grain really pop out, giving it a warmer color overall.

I am really liking how it looks after it was finished! Instead of planting peppers in it, I figured that the bleeding heart flowers would look so much better! I planted the flowers in it last night with high quality potting soil and compost. We hope that the bleeding hearts thrive and bloom in the planter box soon!
