High Plains Honor Flight Announces Change to ‘Escort & Sendoff’ for April 2023 Event
Giving Veterans an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C., High Plains Honor Flight is a wonderful organization. This year's flight, on April 30, 2023, will be flying out of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport, so that will necessitate a change.
Dozens of Colorado Heroes will be getting the chance to visit the Memorials in Washington pertaining to the branch of military they served in, and/or the battle they fought in. Normally, people line up along I-25 as they travel towards DIA for their flight. That's changed, and High Plains Honor Flight has a new escort route to salute and pay tribute to our Veterans.
Wherein passed years, everyone has gathered at Embassy Suites in Loveland and then headed out onto I-25 for the parade route to DIA, this year will have to be different. The parade/escort will gather at The Ranch and then set out on a designated route with plenty of spaces for people to stand, wave flags and cheer, as they head to the "Fort Collins/Loveland" airport.
ESCORT ROUTE 2023, APRIL 30, 2023:
- North on Fairgrounds Avenue (CR 5)
- East on Highway 392
- South on CR 13 (Colorado Boulevard)
- West on Crossroads Boulevard
- North on Boyd Lake Drive to North Colorado Regional Airport
- Buses/escort leaves The Ranch at 8:20 a.m.
It should be a great morning honoring those who deserve these flights, for all that they've given to their Country. You can find out more and donate to send Veterans to Washington, D.C. at HighPlainsHonorFlight.org.
