Join me as I travel around Northern Colorado in search of 'NoCo's Greatest Pie.' This week, a stop in north Johnstown at Parry's Pizzeria & Bar.

First off, let me admit that since this was the first stop in Johnstown with 'Pizza My Heart' I probably should have gone IN to town and hit Dominic's. Next time, for sure.

Parry's is in the Johnstown Plaza off of Highway 34 and I-25 close to Scheel's, in case you haven't been. This was my and my cohort, Jake's, first time at the place.

Parry's is a national chain and is one of about eight in Colorado; I generally have been staying away from big chains, but this Parry's gets a lot of street-talk, so I decided to go check it out.

BEER. The first thing you notice at Parry's is the number of beer taps at the bar.  Holy hops and barley, Batman, they have a lot of beer. Jake was excited to see his favorite brewery on tap, Surly, out of Minnesota.

PIZZA. Parry's serves up New York Style pizza - thin and hand-tossed.  We ordered one of their MANY signature pies- the 'Called Shot Steak;' it's a white sauce pie with steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions, garlic, cheddar, and mozzarella.  We ordered the 18" pie, which rings in at about $23.

It didn't take long for the pie to hit the table and it looked awesome, with eight slices for the two of us. The crust was great and the toppings were good, too. It was very filling- two slices went into a box.

It IS a great venue. It has a real 'let's get out and have some fun' vibe. Date night, softball teams, whatever. I'll bet they get a lot of folks from out of town who are here to shop at Scheel's. Excellent for people watching.

Google Reviews (633 of them) give Parry's an average of 4.3

I am going to disagree with that, if only because of the price. Bring your wallet.

My 'Pizza My Heart' Review: 4.2 out of 5 Pepperonis.
