Join me as I travel around Northern Colorado in search of NoCo's Greatest Pie.  This week, a stop at JJ's Wood-Fired Pizza in Fort Collins.

In pursuit of Northern Colorado's Greatest Pie, my 'Pizza My Heart' series made its second stop at JJ's Wood-Fired Pizza in Fort Collins.

JJ's Corner Stop has been around for many years at Taft Hill and Harmony in Fort Collins. A traditional stop for folks heading up to Horsetooth Reservoir. I have been to JJ's Lounge a couple of times before they changed over to JJ's Wood-Fired Pizza. Actually, the place wasn't on my radar. I guess I thought it was still the lounge.

Many folks here at the station recommended JJ's as a place to stop on my quest. So, that's what my cohort, Jake, and I did on July 17, 2019.

JJ's had been closed for two months earlier in the year to convert to a more fast-casual style of place. I like it. Lots of room, lots of seating at the big bar (with a full bar and lots on tap), they have a back patio with the all-but-required garage door, and of course pizza.

They fire up their Naples-style cuisine in a beautiful oven, and it comes out quick.

We had two of the 12" individual pies. One, their signature traditional Napalese Diavola that has salami (you never see that), the other, my pick: the Staginoni which includes my favorites- artichokes and mushrooms.  Both were delicious. Seriously, really good pies.

The two pies, and a couple of sodas and tip, we were out the door for about $26 during lunchtime. Not bad.

'Pizza My Heart' rating: 4.5 pepperonis out of 5.

Have you been to JJs?
