Colorado State University's Becky Hammon had her #25 jersey retired in 2025, which hangs at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. In 2026, TIME added another accolade to the long list of awards and trophies.

What List Did Time Put Becky Hammon on in 2026?

It's one thing to make a yearly list, but to be make the inaugural list adds to the weight of making the list. In June of 2026, TIME introduced its "TIME100: Sports - The Most Influential People in Sports" list. They broke that list into four categories: Icons, Titans, Innovators, and Leaders. Hammon is one of the inaugural list's Leaders.

Hammon was listed among 25 other Leaders in sports, such as Bill Simmons, Myles Garrett, Stephen Curry, Jordan Chiles, and Carly Irsay-Gordon. There were seven women within the Leaders category, total.

Why Did TIME Put Becky Hammon on Their List for 2026?

TIME puts Hammon on their inaugural list due to her coaching capabilities. After her career in the WNBA, she was the first female Assistant Coach in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs; even becoming the first woman to act as Head Coach after Popovich got ejected from a game in 2020.

After seven seasons with the Spurs, Hammon became Head Coach of the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces in 2022. TIME points out that in her first four seasons, the ACES won the WNBA Finals three times, "cementing [the Aces] as a dynasty." Hammon also won WNBA Coach of the Year in that first, 2022 season.
