While many can agree that the craft beer scene in Colorado isn't like it used to be, 2025 saw a big change with one of the industries most knowledgeable and loyal supporters. For over dozen years, the site kept us up to date on openings, closings, and new offerings. Their appearance at the 2025 Great American Beer Festival in Denver would be their last, as an insider.

I, for one, was an early fan of Colorado's craft beer industry; a roommate of mine and I were a couple of the firsts to get growlers filed by Doug Odell himself, at his (what was then) little brewery. Just like how Odell Brewing kept growing in those mid-1990s, the entire state's craft beer industry boomed; what was needed was someone keeping a keen eye on the whole thing, and in 2012 PorchDrinking.com came along to do just that.

From PorchDrinking.com's 'About' page:

The main goal is to help build the beer community and do so while having an absolute blast. We don’t claim to be experts on any topic in particular, but we love tasting it, talking about it, sharing it in the most outrageous, entertaining and occasionally educational manner possible. Welcome to our porch, grab a drink, take a seat!

The site became a huge success; today, PorchDrinking.com not only covers the Colorado craft beer industry, but 10 other regions across the country, too. I'm not sure how many staffers the site has, but it has to be in the dozens, as they cover many events, dive into many subjects, and even have their own podcast. I'm sure not a lot of people have even heard of PorchDrinking.com, but I'm many, many people (such as myself) have, and enjoy its insights and opinions.

With the 2025 Great American Beer Festival, the man who started and and ran PorchDrinking.com, Tristan Chan, announced that he was selling the site to Beer Connoisseur. Beer Connoisseur has been around since 2004, providing a bi-monthly web magazine about beer and many other things.

From Chan's 'Goodbye' post:

I only wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made PorchDrinking a reality. To all of the writers, editors, social media managers, photographers, and readers who helped us tell incredible stories for the past 13 years, I am eternally grateful and am so proud to call so many of your friends.
