It may take some time for fans of Johnson's Corner in Johnstown, Colorado, to get over the fact that it's not there any longer. Lots of meals, memories and cinnamon rolls were enjoyed there.
Black Bear Diner Coming to Replace Johnson's Corner in Colorado
The only constant is change, they say, but it doesn't ease the sorrow of a piece of Northern Colorado history fading away. Years from now people will eat at this new restaurant and not even think about Johnson's Corner.
Joe Johnson opened Johnson's Corner in Johnstown in 1952. In 2025, Black Bear Diner took over operations of the restaurant.
I'm sure everything will work out fine, in the end. The restaurant will get a makeover, locals will be employed there, and maybe they'll even keep a picture of Johnson's Corner up on a wall somewhere inside this Black Bear Diner.

Many say that Johnson's Corner had lost it's shine once it became a part of Travel Centers of America in 2014. It happens, corporate entities just don't understand what has gone into a place such as Johnson's Corner to make it great.

I have more than a couple of fond memories about Johnson's Corner being a destination; bringing my young nephew there for his first meal at the legendary place; stopping for a coffee on the way to the airport; birthday breakfasts with friends' parents.
It's hard to imagine a new place having the same "we should go out to..." vibe; but, Johnson's Corner built up their reputation over five decades, I'm going to have to give Black Bear a chance.
