Colorado Getting Another 40,000 Sq-Ft Amazon Distribution Center – Where?
Amazon's conquering of the world continues growing its foothold in Colorado, as it was announced in November of 2025, that by 2027 they'd have a "micro-center" in the northwest portion of the state. While tiny in comparison to the the massive facility in Loveland, how will "Cowboy Country" be taking the news?
As of late 2025, there are about six Amazon warehouse/distribution centers across the state, mostly along the Front Range. As opposed to a fulfillment center, that puts orders together to get to your door, distribution centers take in large orders to sort and ship out to the fulfillment centers. This one, coming in 2026, will be a "micro-center," at only 40,000 sq-ft., compared to Loveland's 3.5 million sq-ft. robotic fulfillment center.
When I think of Steamboat, not only do I think of skiing, I think of real cowboys. Steamboat, and the Yampa Valley, are part of the "true west" areas of Colorado. Ranching, rodeos, whiskey, and a slowed-down way of living. Out in Hayden, about 25 miles east of Steamboat Springs, coal mining has also been a way of life; but, Excel Energy will be closing the coal mining facility in Hayden in 2028.

According to the Steamboat Pilot, Hayden's Town Manage is excited about the economic boost Amazon will be bringing to the area, especially considering the pending closure of the coal facility. This Amazon "micro-center" will be within a new business park near the Yampa Valley Regional Airport. There are 12 other lots at that business park; the Town Manager believes having Amazon as part of the business park will bring in other big names.
