While officials don't yet know if Northern Colorado is getting a white Christmas this year, the Denver area has had its fair share of snowfall on December 25.

However, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), the phrase 'white Christmas' has a few different definitions: one inch or more of snow on the ground, or any measurable snowfall (.1 inch or more).

If we're choosing the former definition, Denver residents saw the greatest amount of snow on the ground in 1982, following a Christmas Eve snowstorm:

5 Greatest Denver Area Christmas Day Snow Depths Since 1990

1982 - 24"
1913 - 19"
2006 - 15"
1973 - 12"
Using the latter definition, the Denver area saw the heaviest Christmas Day snowfall in 2007:

5 Greatest Denver Area Christmas Day Snowfalls Since 1882

2007 - 7.8"
1894 - 6.4"
2014 - 3.4"
2015 - 2.3"
1912 - 1.7"

Whichever way you look at it, Colorado is infamous for its unpredictable weather. Based on these statistics, I'd say you'd better have your winter boots and your flip flops ready this Christmas.
