A hit and run suspect is now behind bars, due to the help of K9 deputy Loki, who works for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 5:12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, officers from the Milliken Police Department and Weld County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle crash. When they arrived on scene, they determined that one of the vehicles, which had been left unoccupied, was a suspect from a hit and run that had just occurred in Evans.

Deputy Fortin and K9 Loki, who is a certified drug detection dog, began searching the area for the driver of the abandoned vehicle. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the male driver and where he was last seen running. After an almost 2-mile search, K9 Loki successfully located the suspect who ran from the scene.

Twenty-four year old Jasi Coureur is being charged with Failure to Remain at the Scene after an Accident, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Improper Turn.
