Exciting news has been announced in Windsor, as the Northern Colorado town will soon become home to the world's largest sports park. With the first phase expected to be finished by Fall of 2018, Rocky Mountain Sports Park is a $225 million dollar privately-funded project that will be constructed at the corner of Highway 257 and Harmony Road.

A panel that included Windsor's Mayor Kristie Melendez, former Rockies player and current broadcaster Ryan Spilborghs, RMSP president Mike Billadeau, the director of marketing Shawn Logan, and Greg Billadeau discussed plans for building the giant sports park today at Windsor's Town Hall. Being built on 413 acres of land, the complex will feature 65 fields in total, including youth fields, softball fields, and even a major-league size park with seating for 10,000 people. In addition, there are also plans for an indoor training facility, dorms for traveling athletes, multi-use fields, and a stadium district with retail shops and restaurants. Organizers are calling it an ultimate "stay and play" complex, that will not only host baseball and softball tournaments, but will bring in kids from all over the world to train develop their skills. Another really special aspect of the project is going to be the Miracle Field, which will be designed specifically for baseball players who are physically challenged, giving everyone a chance to fulfill their dreams. While the brick design and overall feel will be similar to the popular baseball destination of Cooperstown, there's currently no other facility that is anything like this. Over 100,000 visitors are expected to come to the park on an annual basis.

The developers could not be more excited to build the new facility in Colorado, saying that the small town of Windsor is the perfect community for it. With its close proximity to an international airport, plus so many other recreational options nearby, the area is ideal for athletes and their families. Construction is expected to begin sometime around September or October of this year. RMSP will have such a positive economic impact on Windsor and Colorado as a whole – bringing tons of new jobs and opportunities for people to spend their both their time and money locally. Drawing in guests from all over the world, this massive, multi-use sports park will definitely put the town of Windsor on the map.
