Baseball fans are gearing up for the start of the 2023 season this week. The Colorado Rockies play their first game on Thursday, but their home opener doesn't happen until April 6.

The forecast for next Thursday's Opening Day against the Nationals is predicted to be partly cloudy with a high of 49 degrees - that certainly doesn't compare to last year's sunny, 66-degree day, but as far as weather goes, it could be worse.

Besides, past home openers have been anything but ideal. At the beginning of some seasons, fans sat at Coors Field bundled up in coats and scarves, displaying their true dedication to the Rockies. In other years, it's been hot and sunny when Colorado's squad took the field for their first home game.
