When we signed up, we knew it was going to be tough.

This Team Challenge Saturday Showdown pushed me so hard, that it is Tuesday, and I am still sore. Plus, my team lost.

So, it wasn't a cake walk by any stretch of the imagination. However, as I said on my show yesterday, the fitness I'm enjoying from being on a plan of regular workouts is awesome.

I think it drives the guys I play basketball with a bit crazy, because even though my ball handling skills are lacking, my fitness is excellent, so it makes it tougher to play against me. When I say my skills are lacking, I really mean it. If I try to dribble too far, the chance of me accidentally kicking it are high. It's called booting it, and real ballers don't respect that move.

That's why I know it must be infuriating when my fitness allows me to have an impact on the game. My opponents are thinking, "This guy? He stinks. How did he just do that?" It's pretty simple. I show up for regular high intensity interval training workouts. I started doing them a couple of years ago, and the difference it makes is palpable. I bring full body strength, cardiovascular fitness, and more explosiveness because of it.

Plus, I feel like I'm setting myself up to age a little more gracefully.

That's all I'm going for—sustainability and relevance. Relevance for as long as it lasts, because some sports will fall away from my life faster than others. Sustainability, I'm hoping, will last into the very advanced ages.
