Support Northern Colorado Women and Children with Garden Tour
Flowers and plants typically make people happy. What a great opportunity to do something to help women and children succeed in Northern Colorado and enjoy the beauty of flowers and gardens in Fort Collins. The 34th annual Garden Tour hosted by The Junior League of Fort Collins will be on Saturday, June 25 in the East Elizabeth Neighborhood of Fort Collins.
Press Release:
The Junior League of Fort Collins will host its 34th annual Garden Tour event presented by Fort Collins Nursery on Saturday, June 25 in the East Elizabeth Neighborhood of Fort Collins. The event offers patrons a chance to support local community programs while viewing and learning about plants, flowers and gardens.
The Tour will once again serve as the Junior League of Fort Collin’s major fundraiser to fund programs that benefit women and children in Northern Colorado. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $50,000 that would help fund programs such as:
- Junior League of Fort Collins Career Closet– provides school- and work-appropriate clothing to more than 200 women per year at no cost to them.
- Hunger Initiative partnership with the Food Bank of Larimer County – delivers more than 100,000 snacks to each year to kids in need.
- Imagination Seriesprogram with the Fort Collins Lincoln Center – distributes more than 700 tickets to shows at the Lincoln Center to local children and families.
“As our signature fundraising event, Garden Tour is critical to our ability to impact those in need,” said Mara Brosy-Wiwchar, chair of the event. “With the support of the Fort Collins community, we can continue to create opportunities for women and children to thrive.”
The 2016 tour features five gardens in the East Elizabeth neighborhood of Old Town Fort Collins. Homeowners have volunteered their gardens to provide an opportunity for the local community to learn about plants, landscape design and provide stunning inspiration to others for their own gardening adventures.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $35 for VIP, which features a food and beverage sample at each property. Children ages 12 and under may attend free of charge. The Tour also includes a “block party” with food trucks and live music from the Stover Street Stompers. Old Town Yoga will also be providing a class during the tour, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at 701 E. Elizabeth Street.
Tickets can be purchased at the event or online at http://www.jlfortcollins.org/estore. The start of the Tour as well as will call and tickets sales will be located at the corner of Garfield and Smith streets. Participants are encouraged to park at First United Methodist Church, located at 1005 Stover St.
