Showdown Friday: Rams QB Coach to Call Plays vs Colorado
As the annual clash between the University of Colorado and Colorado State gets closer, the Rams announced this week that their quarterback coach, Ronnie Letson, will call plays during the Rocky Mountain Showdown this Friday night. This is nothing new for Letson as he called plays this past Saturday against Hawaii,
Head coach Mike Bobo continues treatment for peripheral neuropathy that put him in the hospital for 10 days prior to the Hawaii game. The condition is the cause for numbness in his feet that limits his mobility and has kept him off the sideline. During the game against Hawaii, coach Bobo was in the booth while Letson was on the field calling plays. It looks like the same game plan for Friday night's game.
The Rams are coming off a tough loss to Hawaii this past Saturday. The offense was slow to get going but came on strong in the second half to make it a close 43-34 loss.
This will be the first game for the Buffalo's this season. They're coming off a 5-7 record from last year. Athlon Sports is predicting a slightly better season for the Buffs with a 6-6 overall record and finishing 5th in the Pac 12 South Division.
Last year's game was light on offense as the Buffs beat the Rams 17-3. This year, both programs have the reputation of less than stellar defenses. See Rams vs Hawaii last week. But, both programs boast a potent offense. It may be a shootout at Mile High with the team that has a defense that can stop an offense winning the game.
History stats: Colorado leads the series 65-22. Colorado has won the last three Showdowns and 4 out of the last 5. In the last 10 games, two went into overtime with Colorado winning both. The largest margin of victory is Colorado, beating CSU 67-0 in 1894. The longest win streak in the series is Colorado with 12. The last tie game was a 7-7 contest Boulder in 1920. The other tie game was in Fort Collins in 1906. Final score: 0-0.
