You don't always have to head up I-70 to hit the slopes, you can opt for Denver instead -- and, it's free.

As of Friday, January 13, Ruby Hill Rail Yard, an urban terrain park created by Winter Park, Denver Parks and Recreation and Christy Sports, announced it would open for its tenth season.

Ruby Hill is 'the country's first free urban terrain park based in a city,' according to Winter Park, and several other locations across the country have since followed suit. The park, which typically aims to open in January each year, features multi-level boxes and rails -- and a whole lot of man-made snow.

Ruby Hill is open to the public every day between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.; open to skiers, riders -- and even sledders -- of all levels.
