Polis Extends Statewide 'Stay-at-Home' Order Through April 26

As the fight to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Colorado and the nation at large continues, 'stay-at-home' orders do seem to be having a positive impact, most likely prompting the governor's announcement.

At a rare evening address on Monday night, April 6, 2020, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced that he's extending the end of the current 'stay-at-home' order from April 11 to April 26, 2020. That's another two full weeks, but still isn't as long as the Denver Metro area's order, which Mayor Hancock extended to April 30.

Current data tracking COVID-19 cases suggest that limiting person-to-person interactions is working. The Governor said that in spite of how social distancing brings its own challenges, it's worth avoiding catastrophic consequences such as overloading the state's hospital systems. He continued on to say that he hoped that Coloradans will continue to display the "good-heartedness they have shown so far" in the face of the pandemic.
