A 26-year old woman was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday (August 28) after she collided with a school bus while riding her bicycle in Fort Collins.

Fort Collins Police said it received calls about the bike vs. bus accident at 8:45 a.m., which occurred on the roadway outside of Beattie Elementary in the 3000 block of Meadowlark Avenue.

Upon investigation, officers determined that 26-year-old Anna Price was riding her bike northbound on Meadowlark, and was in the appropriate lane.

A Poudre School District bus driven by Marlon Poole, 71, was also traveling north on Meadowlark. The bus was turning right into the Beattie Elementary parking lot when the two collided. Price's bicycle crashed into the rear passenger side of the school bus and she was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Students were on the bus when the accident occurred, but fortunately did not suffer any injuries. The Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team remained on scene to investigate, and determined that speed, drugs, or alcohol were not suspected in this incident.

Anyone else with information about this incident, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact Officer Ken Koski at 970-416-2229.

With classes back in session, this accident serves as an important reminder to slow down in school zones around town and be aware of students and staff who may be walking or riding in the area.
