
Oilfield Worker Killed – Two Injured – Victim Identified
An oil and gas worker died Thursday morning when a pipe burst at an Anadarko Petroleum oil well site in Weld County near Mead. The fatal victim was identified as Matthew Smith of Brighton.
According to a release from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, a crew was trying to thaw a frozen pipe when it ruptured and burst, killing one person and injuring two other workers about 9:30 a.m. near Colorado 66 and Weld County Road 9 1/2.
48-year-old Thomas Sedlmayr was airlifted to Denver Health. 28-year-old Grant Casey was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies. Their injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
