CSU Player Gets Selected in Third Round of NFL Draft
Last week's NFL Draft was an exciting time for both the teams, and standout players who hope to continue pursuing their dreams of playing football and making it to the pros. If you follow the Colorado State Rams, you've definitely heard the name Michael Gallup a lot over the past two seasons. As an extremely talented wide receiver for the team, Gallup finished his college career with a variety of accomplishments at CSU, including holding the record for single-season receptions and being the only player in school history to catch 3 or more touchdowns three times. Now, Gallup will get his chance to show the pros what he's made of, as he got selected in the third round of the draft (81st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys, in a call made directly to him by the Governor of Texas.
Although Gallup was the only former Ram to get picked up during the draft, several other CSU players have signed free agent contracts or accepted rookie minicamp invitations from other NFL teams. Former quarterback Nick Stevens will attend the Washington Redskins rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, as will lineman Trae Moxley with the Cardinals. Running back, Dalyn Dawkins, has reportedly signed a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans, as did wide receiver Detrich Clark with the Falcons, offensive lineman Zack Golditch with the Chargers, and long snapper Trent Sieg with the Baltimore Ravens.
