Sean Payton, Tom Brady and Von Miller Compete in Tournament
Sean Payton, Tom Brady and Von Miller walk into a bar... just kidding... but that sounds like the start of a great Denver Broncos-themed joke for football fans in Colorado.
In fact, the three were teammates - so to speak - this past weekend in Los Angeles, taking part in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. If you didn't catch any of it on TV, you missed out. It was actually quite entertaining.
If you're like me and watching a lot of college hoops this week but still secretly waiting for football season to start, watching this tournament did a few things for you.
For starters, it scratched the itch to watch some kind of football that wasn't a rerun from last fall.

But mostly it made you think, "WOW... that Team USA we're sending to the Olympics in two years is AWESOME."
Long story short, two teams were built of current and former NFL players and coaches - Sean Payton one of them, and San Francisco head coach and prince of 90s Denver football Kyle Shanahan the other - to compete against Team USA in a round robin style tournament of flag football.

The NFL players were massive alongside their Team USA counterparts, and surely the NFL teams would absolutely destroy the flag football players, right? Could not be more wrong.
Though the NFL players did have a few bright spots as well.
Team USA moved the ball at will, all over and up and down the field, with the NFL guys struggling to keep their hands off them - a penalty in the flag version of the game - and constantly failing to grab their flags to stop their progress.
Payton's team featured Tom Brady and Jalen Hurts at quarterback, plus guys like Rob Gronkowski, Stefon Diggs, DeVonta Smith and others stars including former Broncos LB Von Miller. They didn't win a single game, in spite of Brady looking like he was 38 years old instead of 48.
It was a fun sports filled Saturday afternoon and worth a watch if you can find it somewhere online.
