Colorado Company Finds 40+ Years of Success Renting Llamas

Of all the interesting businesses in Colorado, it's great to see one, that has a specific niche, succeed for over four decades.

It's funny what you'll find while looking for something on Google Maps; I can't recall now what I was searching out, but up popped this llama company in Northern Colorado that I'd never heard of. I think they sound amazing.

Just outside of Loveland, along Highway 34, is the Big Thompson Elementary School at the corner of Highway 34 and CR 27. If you take that County Road north, towards Masonville, you'll come across Buckhorn Llama Company.

You have to wonder about all the stories that could be told, maybe around a campfire, from clients/customers that have leased llamas from Buckhorn, They have a three-day minimum, for recreational, business, and land management purposes.

Why Use Llamas?

Llamas are docile, athletic, don't need "shoes" like horses, and eat only one-tenth of what horses or mules do; and, of course, they can pack a lot.

Elk hunters that had used horses, turned to llamas instead, as they're easier, well-trained, and can get to places horses have a hard time getting to. Llamas aren't against packing carcasses, either, so that's a win.
