Book Lovers Are Uniting as Fort Collins Book Fest Returns This Month

It's hard to deny the power of a good book. There are somewhere around 130 million published books. A book is a chance to learn, to feel, to experience, to remember, and to connect.

My love for our Poudre River Libraries run deep. I think they do an outstanding job at providing much more than your standard community library. The Fort Collins Book Fest is a great example of that.

Fort Collins Book Fest is happening all February long. This is a free event returning for its 3rd year as a festival. It's a festival "for the love of reading" and writing. The events include writing workshops, a human library, activities for all ages, book signings, author talks, panel discussions, and some fun social activities like book bingo and literary trivia.

The workshops include a Teen Writers Group, the Art of Handwriting, How to Write, Teen Comic, Methods of Memoir, Be an Illustrator, Horror Writing 101, Veterans Writing, and several other exciting opportunities to learn about creating a writing piece that is interesting to you.

The Human Library is a concept I absolutely love. You are borrowing a human to hear about their life experiences. Book Fest says "the Human Library program creates a safe and non-judgmental environment for curious and often taboo conversations that will challenge prejudices and promote understanding of differences." This piece of Book Fest is scheduled on February 26.
