You Don’t Want to Miss the ‘Big Boy’ Train When it Hits These Stops in Colorado
The largest steam-powered train in the world is coming to Colorado; it's not just a masterpiece of engineering, but a piece of America's history.
Having the opportunity to see Union Pacific's "Big Boy 4014," up close has to be something to behold; kids and adults alike, will be lining up at these stops. Wil you be bringing the family out to see it?
The train is almost as popular as Taylor Swift, when it comes to announcing a tour.
Big Boy No. 4014 Coming to Colorado
It felt like the train wouldn't be coming to Colorado at all, now here we are excited for not just one but three stops in the Centennial State.
The awe-inspiring, 1.1 million-pound "Big Boy," is going on a fall tour in 2024 (will there be an opening act? No..) and it's great that one of the great states in the west will get to behold its majesty. I've not yet seen the "Big Boy," maybe 2024 will be my year.
When Coloradans See the 'Big Boy' on the 2024 Fall Tour?
While the train will be making major "whistle" stops in Rochelle, Illinois, Fort Worth, and Houston, Texas, we will have the opportunity to at least see "Big Boy No. 4014," for a couple of stops:
- Monday, October 21: Strasburg. 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 23: Greeley, 12:35 p.m. - 1:05 p.m.
The Strasburg stop is unique in the fact that Strasburg holds to its claim that the town is very close the "real" spot where the Golden Spike was driven into the ground, commemorating the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad.

The Greeley stop is unique in the fact that it will be near the Colorado Model Train Museum, which was opened in 2009 by a former newspaper publisher; it's one of Colorado' greatest museums.
According to Fox31/Denver, there will be Denver stop on "Big Boy's" fall tour, but it's not open to the public.
