
Loveland Has a New Historic Landmark Home in Downtown
In 2026, Colorado celebrated its 150th birthday; the year would also be the year that Loveland added another home to its list of historic places in the city.
What Home in Downtown Gained 'Historic' Status in 2026?
The home sits at 438 East 7th in the Downtown area of Loveland, just west of Washington. The home is not far at all from a home that was once a church (502 East 7th Street) and is also designated as historic. Of course, the Downtown area is the oldest part of the city, having historic places shouldn't be surprising.
According to the Reporter-Herald, on August 18, 2026, the Loveland City Council gave unanimous approval to designate the home as historic.
What Makes 438 7th Street in Downtown Loveland a Historic Landmark?
The nomination to have the 'Rose-Moon' house designated as historic included several factors:
- Architectural Significance: It's a 1919 Craftsman bungalow with distinctive character-defining features; it represents early twentieth-century middle-class residential design, the home reflects Loveland's historic neighborhood development, it conveys the architectural character of its era, and retains original design, materials, and historic integrity.

- Social & Cultural Significance: Charley Rose wan entrepreneur whose businesses and civic leadership helped shape the commercial heart of early Loveland. He owned/ran Jeffries & Rose Drug Store, Columbine Drug Store, Rose Bros. Sporting Goods, and Rose Brothers Agricultural Implements. Rose was also behind the the rehabilitation of the Armory building
- Social & Cultural Significance Cont'd: Estelle Rose strengthened the community through charitable events and civic engagement; the Rose's well-documented stewardship firmly connects the home to Loveland's early twentieth-century social and economic development.
With its 2026 designation, 438 East 7th Street became the 78th property on Loveland's Historic Register.
