Chipotle Bringing New Location to Northern Colorado in Windsor

When you consider that Chipotle started over 30 years ago in Denver, you'd think there would be more locations around Northern Colorado; but as of the summer of 2026, there are only about six.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Coming to Take Over Former KFC/A&W in Windsor

It was in December of 2025 that the KFC/A&W location at 1590 Main Street lost its lease and closed down after about 17 years of operation, having opened in 2008. I know that I had hit up that KFC many times, since our stations are just down the street; every now and then, you just need some fried chicken, right?

In August of 2026, I saw that they were doing construction at the old KFC, and there was a sign out front. The sign was for the construction company,  KTK General Contracting Limited. I called them up and asked them what the project was that they were working on at 1590 Main Street, and they told me it was going to be a Chipotle.

Where are the Other Northern Colorado Chipotle Mexican Grill locations?

Myself, living in Downtown Loveland, haven't really tried either of the two locations the town has, though I pass by them often (one is at the Centerra Marketplace by Panera, the other at Taft and Eisenhower by Safeway.)

Fort Collins has (as of August 2026) three Chipotles (Harmony and  Timberline, at CSU, and at College and Drake.) Greeley's Chipotle is at 17th and 9th in Downtown. I was unaware, until this writing, that Chipotle has locations not only in the U.S, but in Canada, the U.K., and in Denmark. Good for them, having come out of the Mile High City in 1993.
