After Trying New Things, Ted’s in Windsor Calls it ‘Quits’

With all the work it takes to run any restaurant in Colorado, it can feel amazing that so many see big success. Ted's in Windsor, sadly, just couldn't find it footing to be one of the "success" stories.

Why is Ted's Backyard at Raindance in Windsor Closing Down?

It was on August 14, 2026, that Ted's Backyard posted on their Facebook page, that their last day of operations would be August 20, 2026. It came as a surprise to me, as I thought the new iteration of "Ted's" was a good concept; on the other hand, I wasn't utterly flabbergasted at the news, as the restaurant had indeed seen its struggles.

"Tough decisions" for restaurants happen all the time; hundreds of restaurants around Northern Colorado have opened, only to shutter a few years later. It definitely has to be a heartbreaking thing: All the work that you've put in, the hours, all for not.

Ted's began as Ted's Sweetwater Grill back in 2020; in 2025, they closed to rebrand as "something completely different." Ted's Backyard Patio opened in early February of 2026; I was one of their earliest customers upon re-opening. I liked the smash burger (and pizzas) concept and how the restaurant was laid out.

What Will Become of 2191 Covered Bridge Parkway?

The Colorado Cherry Company was a part of Ted's, early on, which seemed like a good fit, but no. I see many people commenting on the closure about how the space should become a coffee spot of some sort; coffee and cherry pie does sound pretty good. Maybe Colorado Cherry Company will come back?
