A. Rod Suspended Through End Of 2014 Season (VIDEO)
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has been suspended for the remainder of the 2013 Major League Baseball season and postseason, and all of the 2014 season.
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig announced the suspension today, saying that Rodriguez had violated the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and Basic Agreement through his alleged use of prohibited performance-enhancing substances over several years, and for allegedly attempting to cover up such use and obstruct an investigation into same.
The suspension becomes effective Thursday but will be stayed until the completion of any appeal Rodriguez may file.
Twelve other players received 50-game suspensions without pay for their violations of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program in relation to the Biogenesis investigation. Those players have elected not to appeal their suspensions. (ABC)
