Cooking eggshells is something I do. I didn't use to, but now that I have chickens it happens with some frequency.

You see, chickens can benefit from extra calcium in their diet because it takes a lot to create the hard shell of an egg. Many chicken owners buy crushed up bags of oyster shells to supplement this need. However, it turns out the same nutrition is right there in the eggshell, of the egg, chickens manufacture in their own feathered bodies.

Some people bake the eggshells, some microwave them and some set them in the sun. The idea is to dry them out before feeding them to the chickens. I crush them up and set them in a pile for my ladies to devour as you can see below.
