I have always known that the Silver Grill Cafe is the oldest restaurant in Fort Collins. Then it gets a little fuzzy, so I decided to do a little research. I was shocked to find out the results. Maybe you will be too. If you know any Fort Collins restaurants that are older that are still open, please let me know. I will add them to my list. According to my research, these are the "5 Oldest Restaurants in Fort Collins":

5. Pobre Panchos - 1969

In 1967 Frank Perez and his mother opened a restaurant in Old Town called Panchos. Pobre Panchos moved to its current location in North Fort Collins in 1969. Frank’s mother’s recipes have been used throughout the last 50 years with staples like tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chile rellenos, tamales and tostadas. Pobre Panchos is at 1802 North College Avenue.

4. El Burrito - 1960

El Burrito has been owned and operated by the same family since 1960. They serve homemade Mexican food, cooked fresh daily. El Burrito is at 404 Linden Street, just north of Old Town.

3. Charco Broiler - 1957

The Charco Broiler opened in the fall of 1957 as a simple coffee shop and burger joint. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in October. Now they are famous for their steaks, but their website boasts home-style comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Charco Broiler is at 1716 East Mulberry in Fort Collins.

2. Ever Open Cafe - 1953

The Ever Open Cafe was also known as Ever Open Cafe and Gas Stop, although there are no longer gas pumps. I'm not sure if it was ever really a gas station. Just like the typical American diner, they have homemade pies. I always thought it was funny that the Ever Open Cafe is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. They are located at 1422 North College Avenue.

1. Silver Grill Cafe - 1933

In the heart of Old Town, the Silver Grill Cafe is the oldest restaurant in Northern Colorado. It has been serving breakfast and lunch since 1933, but has roots going all the way back to 1912. Originally it was known as the Uneeda-Lunch Café, and owned by Charlie Liggett and Chink Brown. The name, “Silver Grill,” came from a hungry sign painter who thought of the name. He painted it on the window and traded it for a pork chop lunch, which is featured on the menu today. The Silver Grill Cafe is located at 218 Walnut Street.

Avogadro's Number came close to making the list. They started in 1971. The Mountain Cafe is not the one you remember from the 50s. The restaurant that is there now is only 20 years old. If I have missed any, please let me know.
