Warrant Issued for Islamic Center Vandal Upon Failing to Appear in Court

A warrant was issued for 35-year-old Joseph Giaquinto on Tuesday, upon failing to appear in court for a case regarding his involvement in vandalizing the Islamic Center of Fort Collins last week.

Giaquinto was originally released from the Larimer County Jail on a $7,500 bond, however, as a result of not showing up to his hearing, this bond has now been forfeited. Once he is rearrested, he will not have the opportunity to post bail again. Giaquinto is facing several charges, including felony criminal mischief, 3rd degree criminal trespassing, and participating in a bias motivated crime, after admitting to throwing rocks and a Bible through the doors of the local Islamic Center on March 26.

Giaquinto is a U.S. Army Veteran who is possibly suffering from PTSD. The suspect moved to Fort Collins last year, and lives across the street from the Islamic Center on Lake Street. Following the incident, Giaquinto's father noted that once his son bonded out of jail, he planned to seek treatment and therapy for the PTSD. His father, who also lives around the same vicinity as his son and the Islamic Center, was unsure of his son's whereabouts as of Tuesday.
