Well, let's file this under the list of things we never thought we'd hear ourselves say: "No, please Vance Joseph, do not leave us!"

That certainly wasn't the case years ago when he was the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos. Fans couldn't wait for him to be shown the door.

And it also wasn't the case his first season back in Denver as Defensive Coordinator with Sean Payton as head coach, when early in the season the Miami Dolphins hung SEVENTY points on his defense. We thought we knew. But... we were wrong.

Joseph - and credit where credit is due: also Sean Payton - have not-so-subtly built one of the best defenses in the NFL ever since that 70-point massacre in Miami back in 2023. And now, he's likely getting his next call-up to the big chair.

Remember When: Not Awkward At All, Former Head Coach to Return as Defensive Coordinator

Joseph is set to interview with at least four teams for their vacant head coaching spots, and a likely fifth just emerged with the surprise firing of John Harbaugh in Baltimore as well.

The other teams are the Las Vegas Raiders (please, no), Arizona Cardinals, where he once served as Defensive Coordinator after his first Broncos run, and the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.

It's widely expected that he will get one of those opportunities, but my question is this: why would you want to, Vance? You're part of something special in Denver this time around, and do you really want to leave that with unfinished business to go off to another team that's been so bad they had to fire their head coach?

Food for thought: how about you stay in Denver and finished what you started? Look at someone like Josh McDaniels, who's tried and failed as a head coach twice. But as New England's Offensive Coordinator, he's hugely successful and respected.

Some coaches are just better coordinators and we're worth your consideration of staying put, right where you're at. We're sorry about those "Fire Vance Joseph" signs a few years ago. No, really, we mean it!

The Good, The Great, The Ugly — The 19 Head Coaches of the Denver Broncos

On February 6, 2023, Sean Payton became the 19th Head Coach of the Denver Broncos. Here's a look at all of those coaches, and how they did.

Jersey Numbers the Denver Broncos No Longer Use

These jersey numbers hold special reverence to the team and thus aren't allowed to be worn any longer. When longtime fans see these numbers they say, "He was the best!" "The GOAT!" "They couldn't have done it, without him!"
