Betty Ford Alpine Gardens was originally built in 1985 and has been consistently growing ever since. There have been several large projects done to expand the gardens over the years that made it into the beautiful Colorado attraction that we know it as today.
Interestingly, what we know as Betty Ford Alpine Gardens didn't always go by that name. In fact, it wasn't until 1988, three years after the gardens were built, that they were named after the former first lady.
