UPDATE: Bandimere Speedway, Jefferson County Battle in Court Over July 4 Fiasco
When you see what Bandimere Speedway looked like on the 4th of July, social distancing doesn't come to mind.. and there weren't many masks to be seen based on one of the videos below (though some did wear them). In fact, it didn't really seem like it could be in Colorado, where we have pretty strict COVID-19 guidlines for gatherings.
Now, the speedway is battling with Jefferson County public health officials in court, The Denver Channel reported. While Bandimere's lawyers say the did, in fact, limit guests and use markings to space guests apart, officials aren't really buying it. JeffCo feels that there was a lack on enforcement at the event.
An Instagram post shows a fan's support for the track.
Until a ruling on July 21, Bandimere can only have 175 guests 'per activity area,' CBS4 said. And, yeah, we don't know what an 'activity area' is either. You can read more on the order here.
