When it comes to major health providers in Northern Colorado, there are really just two: Banner Health and UCHealth. Will Berthoud be joining Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley in having a UCHealth hospital?

UCHealth Purchases Large Parcel Along Highway 56 in Berthoud

According to Hoodline.com and CoStar.com, UCHealth bought 79 acres of land along Highway 56, just west of I-25. When you consider how Northern Colorado keeps growing, a hospital system that's close to not only Berthoud, but Johnstown, the Campion area of Loveland, and Mead, is a great idea.

What Will UCHealth End Up Doing with Their 79 Acres in Berthoud?

While Hoodline.com and CoStar.com had no further information regarding plans, nearly 80 acres is a sizeable piece of property. UCHealth's Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont sits on about 45 acres, but UCHealth's Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland sits on roughly 90 acres. It would really seem like they're planning on a hospital.

What Impacts Will a New Hospital in Berthoud Have on Northern Colorado?

Not only would a new hospital in Berthoud provide health care for the area, but it would be bringing in jobs. There are probably many people in Northern Colorado that travel to work at the Longmont hospital; having a UCHealth in Berthoud would definitely be convenient.

While non-profit hospitals, such as UCHealth, get tens of billions of dollars in tax benefits, they do provide charity and community care, in return.
