Popular TV Star Ty Pennington’s Emergency Surgery at Colorado Hospital
Hunky "home improvement" TV personality Ty Pennington had to be rushed to a Colorado hospital in July 2023, after not being able to breathe.
It brings up that phrase about how celebrities are "just like us," as what happened to Ty could happen to any of us.
What exactly happened to him, and what did the hospital do?
Ty Pennington has been a part of some of the greatest TV shows about home improvement. "Trading Spaces" was a huge hit; then came "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," as well as many other popular shows.
He was in Colorado — right here in Northern Colorado — at the end of 2022 to film season four of "Rock the Block." When you hear about him having to go into ICU while in the state, you definitely get curious as to why.
WHAT HAPPENED TO TY PENNINGTON WHILE IN COLORADO?
Ty, who is 58, was in Colorado to do some filming (probably for HGTV) in Breckenridge. On Tuesday, July 12, his airway was blocked, and he couldn't breathe.
He was taken to the ER unit of the hospital in Frisco; from there, he was flown to the ICU unit at St. Anthony's in Lakewood. To help him breathe, they intubated him; that can be very scary.
WHAT CAUSED TY PENNINGTON'S HEALTH PROBLEM WHILE IN COLORADO
Apparently, Ty had been suffering from a sore throat for about a month. Turns out, that that sore throat was actually an abscess in his throat that had gotten so big that it was cutting off his airway.
Doctors performed surgery to remove that abscess.

WHAT CAN WE ALL LEARN ABOUT TY PENNINGTON'S COLORADO HEALTH SCARE?
Ty put it pretty simply, himself:
A great reminder to LISTEN to your body when it’s telling you something.
