Two People Die in Rocky Mountain National Park in Separate Incidents

Two people have died in Rocky Mountain National Park in separate incidents.

A 73-year-old volunteer died after a fall while descending a peak in the park. Ken Teselle of Estes Park was a park volunteer, but he was off duty at the time of the fatal fall.

According to the Denver Post, the incident happened on Mount Lady Washington above Chasm Lake. Witnesses aided Teselle, performing CPR. Rangers also performed CPR, but Teselle died at the scene.  Plans are to bring Teselle off the mountain today.

Also, the body of an Englewood woman was discovered in Rocky Mountain National Park on Tuesday morning.  59-year-old Teresa Sajsa was found near Tonahutu Creek, close to the trailhead.

9News is reporting that rangers noticed her car that was connected to a welfare check at the North Inlet Trailhead parking area.

Sajsa's cause of death will be determined by Grand County Coroner’s office.
