When you get out of town, sometimes you want that getaway to be truly unique. Turns out, living in Northern Colorado, we are not that far from two great and different destinations- one in Denver, and one in Estes Park!

If you haven’t stayed at one of these two hotels in Colorado yet, you may have missed your chance at getting a decent rate. They’re being featured across the nation in USA Today and their Travel section; in their “Weird and Wonderful: Quickly Hotels Around the USA” feature.  I’ve never heard of, let alone stayed at either of these places. I feel ashamed, because they sound great!

First up- The Baldpate Inn in Estes. Apparently, this B&B –south of Estes on Hwy 7, has been around forever. Their big thing is ‘The Key Room’.  The story goes, that The Baldpate is based on a novel with “Key” in the title. So, they used to give out keys. When WWI started they had to stop doing that, because of the metal shortage. So, people started bringing THEM keys when they stayed! 20,000+ keys later.. The Key Room.

And in Denver- it’s The Curtis Hotel. In the heart of downtown Denver, this place kind of says “Come to the Mile High City and be silly." Again, I've never heard of it or stayed there, but NOW- it’s a must: They deck out the rooms in cool themes- like Star Trek and Ghostbusters! How cool is that?

And it looks like they like to have fun…

So, make your plans now to stay in one -or both- of these great places this year!  FUN!
