This Great Breakfast Joint Could Be Colorado’s Sunniest One
One of the more popular places to get breakfast in Colorado is Doug's Diner. One of the Doug's, in north Loveland, let's the sun shine in.
Doug's Diner first opened in Downtown Loveland in 2010 at the bottom of Lincoln Place, at Lincoln Avenue and 5th Street. It was the first of four that Doug Weckerly opened across Northern Colorado.
After a few years, Doug sold off his establishments; two of them were bought by Rick Bruening and Linda Hernandez. Rick and Linda also obtained the names "Doug's Diner" and "Doug's Day Diner." They now have eight Doug's Diners across Colorado:
- Boulder
- Centennial
- Fort Collins
- Greeley
- Parker
- Thornton
- Windsor
- Loveland
There does come some confusion, as the very first Doug's, in Downtown Loveland, remains named "Doug's," though it is not owned by the new owners of the "Doug's" name. That Doug's Day Diner takes pride in being the first one, so they hold onto the name.
In May of 2023, it was announced that Doug's would be coming to take over the spot left behind, after Tilted Barrel had closed, in the Palmer Gardens Shopping Center. In April of 2024, Doug's had opened.
This Doug's also serves lunch and dinner, including pizza - like George's used to, which is great. They also have alcohol, like the Doug's in Greeley and Boulder do.

That location has seen many restaurants in its time: The Neighborhood Grill, Island Grill, George's Pizza & Gyros, to name a few. One of the great features of the space is what makes this Doug's one of Colorado's sunniest breakfast spots.
Ever since it was The Neighborhood Grill, the spot has had an "atrium" feel along the east and north side of the building. You can get a seat by the window, and the window takes up the whole wall up into the ceiling. A great way to start your day, as you grab a bite.
