Townsquare Cares: Weld Food Bank Knows the Importance of a Holiday Meal
While we all love chowing down on turkey and mashed potatoes, we often don't stop to think about the importance of having a holiday meal.
During the holidays, this importance is always on the minds of the staff at the Weld Food Bank. With 10,000 families facing food insecurity in Northern Colorado right now, the organization stops at nothing to make sure those families are fed.
"We all know how important a holiday meal is," said Weston Edmunds, Communications Manager at Weld Food Bank, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "Knowing that there's so many in Northern Colorado who don't have that waiting for them, they don't have that opportunity. For me, it's sad to think that that's going to be a reality for some folks."
However, that doesn't have to be the reality. By donating just $25, you can provide a holiday meal to a local family in need through Townsquare Cares: Feeding NoCo, a partnership between Townsquare Media and the Weld and Larimer county food banks.
You can make a donation to the fundraiser, which is made possible by Auto Collision Experts, by texting FeedNoCo to 50155 or by visiting feednoco.org. Every donation collected will go directly to the food banks.
"It's not so much about the impact on the Food Bank as it is the individual family. When you do give that $25 dollars, what you're really doing is helping a family have that holiday and have those memories, and have a little normalcy in a time that is so uncertain and when people are really struggling," said Stephanie Gausch, Chief Development Officer for Weld Food Bank. "Just know that what you're giving is truly making a difference in people's lives."
Along with Townsquare Cares, the Food Bank is also hosting a turkey drive with Wing Shack. Until November 24, you can drop off a frozen turkey to give to a family in need at any Wing Shack location.
