February is the month of love — but Colorado apparently isn't feeling it.

A new study from Bookies.com has revealed how romantic each U.S. state is, and Colorado didn't fare too well. But why?

Finding the most romantic states in the U.S.

To determine which states have the most success in the romance department, Bookies.com analyzed Google Trends searches for "Valentine's Day."

The company looked at searches from the month of February for the past six years, from 2017 to 2022. The states with the most searches — including West Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York — earned a higher "love" score.

So, where does Colorado rank?

Colorado's romance ranking is heartbreaking

According to Bookies.com, Colorado is the fourth least romantic state in the country, with our love scores never reaching above 72.

Residents were feeling the most romantic in 2021 and 2022, but our lack of excitement for Valentine's Day in previous years brought us down to an average score of 66 — pretty low compared to West Virginia's score of 100.

Thankfully, we don't have to take this too personally. Just because we aren't Googleing "Valentine's Day" doesn't mean we aren't romantic (although Colorado also didn't crack the Top 10 on a list of the best places to find love).

There is one other shred of hope for the Centennial State — we're still more romantic than Minnesota, Washington, and Oregon.
