State of Colorado Sending You Cash Back Starting This Month
If you're not the type to regularly check your mailbox, you might want to start doing so because the State of Colorado is getting set to put a little cash in your pocket.
Back in May, Governor Jared Polis signed a bill to give Coloradans a tax rebate of $750 for individual filers and $1,500 for joint filers this summer. The law stepped up the time table to send the checks out this summer, as opposed to next Spring of 2023.
According to the Colorado Department of Revenue, they're set to begin mailing out checks in the coming days and yours may arrive in your mailbox anytime between now and the end of September.
There are, of course, a few caveats to whether or not you'll be cashing in. You must have filed your 2021 state taxes by June 30 to receive your rebate by September 30. If you filed an extension and file your return between now and the October 17 deadline, you can expect your check before January 31.
You also must have been at least 18 years old on December 31 of last year and a full year resident of the State of Colorado in 2021.
Last but not least, you need to make sure the state has your current address! Checks will be mailed to your last address on file with the state. You can update your address and check out a full list of FAQ's on the Colorado Cash Back website.
