Not much has gone right for the Colorado Rockies in their 2025 season.

They are currently on pace for 126 losses this year, which would give them the worst MLB win-loss record of all time, surpassing the Chicago White Sox record by five runs. That record was just set last year. If that pace holds, they would be only the third team in league history to have more than 120 losses on the year.

They currently boast - maybe that's the wrong word - the highest ERA (Earned Run Average) in Major League Baseball as well, which makes sense given the historic track for the most losses ever.

But wait - there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Over the weekend, MLB held its annual draft in Atlanta, Georgia and the Rockies managed to have a little luck fall their way.

The top ranked prospect in the draft was shortstop Ethan Holliday, former Rockie Matt Holliday's son and the younger brother of former number one pick Jackson Holliday in 2022.

The youngest Holliday was projected to go with the first pick in the draft, but somehow he fell to number four where the Rockies managed to snag him with the 4th pick. Most draft analysts have graded that pick an A+ and expect big returns for the Rockies down the road.

He's from Stillwater, Oklahoma and is a hitting powerhouse, at 6' 4" tall, and is arguably the best hitter in the 2025 draft.

How the Rockies develop Holliday remains to be seen, as he's being drafted straight from high school, but all signs indicate at some point down the road he will be wearing the purple and black at Coors Field - again - someday.
