“I know the weather’s nice, but the coronavirus doesn’t care about the weather,” Gov. Jared Polis said during a press conference on Friday. “It cares about physical proximity and we need to make sure we stay safe.”

Mental health is one of the 'six goals' Polis is focusing on during the Safer-at-Home order, a goal which, for many of us, means going outside. In order to make sure we stay safe while doing so, the governor suggested that Coloradans stay within 10 miles of their home for recreational activities during his Friday conference, as reported by the Denver Post.

To avoid a COVID-19 relapse, Polis has stressed the importance of respecting social distancing, especially as more people make their way out and about.

“Colorado is beautiful, that’s why we live here,” Polis said. “But our mountains and our rivers and forests will be here long after coronavirus. Long after any of us. So give it a break and we look forward to being able to have more of those recreation opportunities in the future.”
