Police Arrest Fort Collins Kidnapping Suspects in California
A four-month long investigation has led to the arrest of two suspects involved in a kidnapping and assault case that occurred in Fort Collins last November.
The arrests stem from an initial incident that took place on November 23, 2018, where Fort Collins police responded to a local hospital to investigate several patients who were reportedly being treated for serious injuries that were consistent with assault.
During the investigation, detectives pieced together the story in which they believed, suspects Michael Syvertson and Dimitri Shokrikhanegah came to Fort Collins to confront three men who had previously worked for them at a marijuana operation in California. Syvertson and Shokrikhanegah believed the victims had stolen weed from the farm, so as a result, traveled to Colorado, where they proceeded to hold the three men captive in the home and assault them. The suspects searched the residence and after leaving the scene, then threatened to kill the victims and their families if they called police or sought medical care.
Syvertson and Shokrikhanegah were located in Northern California, and with the help of local law enforcement, were arrested and have been extradited to the Larimer County Jail. Both suspects were booked on charges of First Degree Kidnapping (class 1 felony), First Degree Assault (class 3 felony), Second Degree Assault (class 4 felony), Burglary (class 3 felony), and Aggravated Robbery (class 3 felony).
Anyone with additional information about this incident or these suspects should contact Detective Jason Curtis at 970-416-2776. People may also contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or www.stopcriminals.org.
