Apparently, not everybody agrees that "The World Needs More Cowboys."

Or, at least, not everyone is a cowboy who might otherwise consider improving their lives within the state of Wyoming.

That's why, after Boulder-based marketing firm Victor & Spoils was paid $500,000 to come up with that slogan and a campaign to follow, those words are being met with considerable criticism.  The slogan is being called "sexist, racist and counterproductive to the university’s recruiting goals."

UW President Laurie Nichols has now received a letter from the University of Wyoming Committee on Women and People of Color, asking them to

shelve that slogan and find another one that represents the diversity of people and cultures that we have, and want to have, as UW.

Coming to the slogan's defense is University of Wyoming Director of Communications Chad Baldwin, according to the Laramie Boomerang.

One of the campaign’s central goals was redefining the word “cowboy” to represent all faculty, staff, students and others associated with the university.
