We've all heard about the superstition: "Find a penny, pick it up; all day long you'll have good luck." Some of us pick up those pennies, while others just ignore them. If you were told those pennies could be worth $1,000, would you change your mind?

Chances are you would. (And if you still didn't pick it up, I'd say you're crazy!)

Nearly 10 billion pennies are minted each year, but half of them are taken out from circulation due to us hoarding them and/or deeming them useless. Ally wants to change that mindset with their Ally Lucky Penny campaign in which 10 pennies worth $1,000 are hidden throughout 10 cities in the United States, including Denver.

The "pennies" are stamped with their logo on the front and back along with the number 100,000 to signify how many cents the lucky penny might be worth.

If you find one of the 10 pennies before December 31, you can redeem it at AllyLuckyPenny.com, reports Denver7. The site also gives hints as to where you might find these pennies.

Other cities in which to try your luck at finding a wealthy penny include Austin, Texas, Charlotte, North Carolina, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Diego, and Washington, D.C.
